We seek to reach as wide an audience as possible with important human rights messages through one of the most powerful artistic media we know: film. The “Your Wallet, Your Choice” project is a series of short, lively, and information-packed films about how we all, as consumers, are connected to other people around the world through products that we buy. We’ll answer questions like: “Does your chocolate of choice fund child labor in West Africa? Or support sustainable co-ops in Bolivia?” “What products contain palm oil and which ones are damaging communities in Malaysia and Liberia?” And, most importantly, “How can you be certain that you are supporting ethical practices or - put more bluntly - putting your money where your heart is?” These films will be part of a transmedia platform providing our audience a source of reliable information and an avenue to support ethical business practices. From here in Washington, DC, where 300+ page reports are generated on a daily basis, we will make important information accessible (and, frankly, more interesting) through our films, combined with the photography and art of other local creatives.
Surveys consistently show a growing public demand for ethical business practices. Our films are the perfect vehicle to meet such demand with reliable information that Conscious Consumers - both current and aspiring - need to ensure they are supporting practices that are consistent with their values. We believe that nearly everyone, if informed of problems in product supply chains, would prefer to support ethical practices. We are working to create films that are artistic, engaging and even entertaining while delivering an important message and thus more likely to make a lasting impact on our viewers.
