Our Projects
YOUR WALLET, YOUR CHOICE… AND VOICE: As a consumer, you vote. Every day. With your dollars. You just might not know it – or what you are voting for. While we marvel at the variety of chocolate, fruit, and coffee in our stores, we don’t often think about supply chains – meaning how those products get from their origins to where we buy them – and the violations of people and the planet along the way. We aim to change that. Through this series of short documentary films, we’ll inform you of problems in supply chains and how you personally can be a part of the solution. We’re delighted to have partnered with a fantastic production company to work with us in making these films a reality. The series will explore palm oil, cocoa, cut flowers, clothes and much more, so stay tuned. We welcome support, including sponsors to the series or a particular episode. And we welcome organizational partners to help raise public awareness, mobilize allies in the movement, and change consumer behavior! Have an idea for a particular episode? Let us know! |
The Power of 7 BLOG: Our growing blog is where you can find up-to-date news about how to be a conscious consumer. Why do we call it the Power of 7? On the pH scale, 7 is the number that is perfectly balanced between being acidic or basic. And we aim to be balanced in everything we do at p.h. balanced films, most especially in the information we provide to you. We recognize the issues we address are complex – so we aim to give you a balanced view, based on reliable sources. What can YOU then do? Continue the Power of 7 by sharing what you read with 7 people… and if they each spread the word to another 7 people, who in turn share with another 7, before long, we’ll all see real change – and it starts with YOU.
Did you know that pure water has a pH of 7? And pure water is a beautiful symbol for justice around the world. In the words of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., we are determined “to work and fight until justice runs down like water, and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
To keep you informed, we add in-depth discussions on a variety of human rights topics to our Power of 7 blog, always citing our sources and pointing you in the right direction if you want more information. Given our deep belief in the power of documentary films to make a real world impact, we sprinkle in discussions of documentaries that are doing just that. Keep an eye out for guest bloggers to add even more expertise to our site. And check back for “Favorite Quote Fridays” to find inspiration related to our mission (like LeVar Burton always said, “You don’t have to take my word for it!”).
If you have questions you want answered, have ideas for a blog, or would like to be a guest blogger, let us know - we want to hear from you!
CHOICE VIEWING:
We also have a series of short films underway highlighting businesses that are doing good while doing well. These are businesses that are conscious consumer-friendly, meaning you know that buying their products means supporting good practices around the world. Have ideas on businesses that fit this description? Drop us a note and tell us more! FULL-LENGTH DOCUMENTARY: Though we are currently gathering footage, our full-length documentary project is happily simmering on the back burner as we focus on our short film series. We welcome inquiries and have proposals ready to send on request. |
